How to add information to the wiki

1. Register

In order to share your wisdom, knowledge or lucky find with the rest of the Edinburgh Beltane Community (and the world) you will need to become a Registered Member of this web site if you haven't already. If you work at one of the partner institutions use your work email to register, and you should automatically get access. If you aren't a member of the Beltane parntership, or have any difficulties, contact the Edinburgh Beltane team directly at info@edinburghbeltane.net who will help.

2. Editing a wiki page

To edit a page, simply navigate to the resources page you want to edit and choose the Edit link in the Page Options box to the left hand side of the page you want ot edit. You will then be able to edit the Title, Tags and the Body of the page.

The Tags are important short cuts to find the page, so choose them carefully.  You will notice that when you start typing in the Tag box, suggestions will apear in a drop down box. These are current tags.  Please reuse as many existing tags as possible and avoid duplication such as "venue" and "venues".

There is a text editor for the Body of the text.

There are buttons at the top of the editor which let you format the text (eg B for bold), or add links   to other web pages.

You can create links to other wiki pages by using a short form:

.

Where Wiki page is the name of the page you want to link to , and text is the text that will be highlighted as the link to click on.

If you prefere to work in HTML, jus click the Source option at the top of the editor box to toggle the editor into HTML mode.

Once you are finished with the text, please let us know what you have changed or added by leaving a note in the Log message box.

And finally click  on the button at the bottom of the page.

3. Creating a wiki page

Before creating a new wiki page we ask that you do a thorough search of the wiki in the Contents tag cloud and using the free word Search resources box to make sure a similar or related page doesn't already exist. If it's not there, then go ahead and create it.

There are two ways to create a wiki page:

1) Type the desired link address into your browsers address bar.

For example to create a page called "new-page" type: http://www.edinburghbeltane.net/resources/new-page into the address bar.

If it doesn't exist already, you should get the following screen.

 new-page

Click on the Wiki page link to create it.

2) Alternatively, if you are editing a wiki page you can create a link to a non-existant page using the short form;

.

Where Wiki page is the name of the new page you want to create, and text is the text that will be highlighted as the link to click on.

When you save the wiki page you are editing, you will see the link you have created is red, not blue.  Click on the link and it will take you to the Page does not exist page, and you will be given the option to create it as above.
