We are an historical site owned by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) which is home to 150 scienitsts, engineers and public engagement professionals who run three main activities:
1. The UK Astronomy Technology Centre (part of STFC) which builds some of the world's biggest and best telescopes and instruments.
2 The Institute for Astronomy which is part of the Univervsity of Edinburgh's School of Physics and Astronomy.
3. The Royal Observatory Edinburgh Visitor Centre which leads the public enagement activities of the site:
- We run pre-booked school and group visits to the Centre, special events and outreach to local schools and venues. http://www.roe.ac.uk/vc/
- We lead the Dark Sky Partnerships in the UK which take astronomy activities to venues and communities throughout the country. http://www.darkskydiscovery.org.uk/
- Our Big Telescopes for Big Questions programme takes the ROE research and technology to audiences across the UK, particularly to secondary schools. http://www.roe.ac.uk/elt/
