Conference: Making Knowledge Count, by AURIL in partnership with NCCPE
Making Knowledge Count is an event organised by AURIL in partnership with the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement and the Beacons for Public Engagement. It will be held on Thursday 2 February 2012 at Woburn House Conference Centre in London. Cost to AURIL members is £95 and £125 to non-members.
Making Knowledge Count is a one-day conference for knowledge exchange professionals and other business and community engagement practitioners, including third sector researchers and business development managers. It will explore how public engagement can be used to respond to the increasing demand for research knowledge and its outcomes to have a wider impact on society.
Engagement with communities, policy makers, public and third sector researchers and the public is moving centre stage. The staff working in knowledge exchange and research public engagement are becoming critical players in ensuring their institutions rise to meet these new demands for knowledge to make a difference in society.
The event will explore the political drivers and the practical implications: how can the different ‘engagement’ communities learn from each other and use their experience and expertise to inform future developments? How can institutions and policymakers best respond to the leadership and management challenges posed by this new environment and the new opportunities that are opening up?
High profile speakers include David Sweeney, Director of Research, Innovation and Skills at HEFCE, Professor Steve West, Vice Chancellor at the University of the West of England and Professor Lynn Martin, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Director of the Centre for Enterprise, Manchester Metropolitan University Business School. There will be workshops aimed at practitioners, managers and policy makers. Delegates will have the opportunity to network, debate and share the latest thinking and practice in this exciting and emerging field.
Delegates are invited to submit a case study around how they are responding to the challenge to Make Knowledge Count. Case studies will be presented during delegate-led sessions and made available in delegate packs. To submit a case study, complete and return the case study proposal form to beacon@manchester.ac.uk by Friday 2 December 2011.
If you would like to attend, please complete the booking form and return to auril@qub.ac.uk as soon as possible in order to secure your place. Payment can be made by credit card via Eventbrite.
